Our Purpose
Mission, Vision & Mandate
Our Mission
The Pas Friendship Centre Inc. is committed to providing positive social and cultural programs and services while promoting Indigenous pride and community harmony. The objective of The Pas Friendship Centre is to promote community spirit, community involvement, and a mutual understanding between peoples of various cultures.
Our Vision
The Pas Friendship Centre envisions a united and inclusive community where Indigenous culture is celebrated, families are supported, and all people — across every stage of life — can grow together in harmony, respect, and mutual understanding. We strive to be a guiding light for reconciliation, cultural pride, and lifelong learning for generations to come.
Our Mandate
The Centre is a bridge between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous cultures, bringing and assisting people where necessary, promoting the development of community-based programming. The Centre works with community organizations on local issues and projects, as well as at provincial and national levels. Inspired by the Seven Grandfather Teachings: Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth.
Guiding Principles
The Seven Grandfather Teachings
Everything we do at The Pas Friendship Centre is guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings — sacred principles passed down through generations of Indigenous peoples.
Love
To know Love is to know peace. Lead with kinship, care, and compassion for all relations.
Respect
Honour people, culture, and the land with humility and responsibility toward all living things.
Courage
To face difficult truths and healing work with strength, even when the path is hard.
Honesty
Speak truthfully and act with integrity toward self, family, and the broader community.
Wisdom
Use knowledge carefully and in service of the community and those who come after us.
Humility
Remember we are part of a larger circle and that we are always still learning from one another.
Truth
Live the other teachings in balance through daily practice and honest self-reflection.
Our Community
Who We Serve
The Pas Friendship Centre serves urban Indigenous peoples and families in the Tri-community area — including The Pas, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, and the R.M. of Kelsey. Our programs are open to all community members regardless of background.
We are a status-blind, non-political organization dedicated to improving quality of life through culturally grounded programming, advocacy, and community connection at the local, provincial, and national levels.
Our programs support children, youth, adults, Elders, and families — making TPFC a trusted gathering place across every generation in our community.
